WDC uses geotechnical studies in the design and planning phases to analyze ground conditions, select the preferred mining methods and establish production and dilution criteria. The company has developed computer programs to analyze economic cutoff grades throughout an underground mine based on differing productivity, development requirements, ore recoveries and capital and operating costs. These tools allow WDC to design mine plans that maximize the value of the project
